April, 2006 - Radio Group established, 20 new hams
licensed

surveyed, Through a grant, ten HT radios purchased for the
group
- July, 2006 - First drill
with HT radios established need for High power radios for
ARC vehicles

Chapter Vehicles
- October, 2006- Establish
emergency net, drill with six vehicles and new radios.
- November, 2006- Upgrade low band
radio in National ERV, Obtain and install low band radio in
chapter ERV. Test all radios and emergency
communications capability.

2007 |
- January,
2007 New Year finds us planning drills and looking for
a source to fund the purchase of some needed equipment
- March,
2007. Drill with chapter equipment proves that we can
communicate all over the former Metro chapter's service
area.
- June
ARCSquared runs fund raiser, raises $425 for new equipment
- July, 2007
Obtain Club Call sign, KC2RMP for the base station in
the DOC, which will simplify disaster communication since
the DOC can be called with a common call sign no matter
which licensee is physically located at the station.
- August,
2007 Run second Ham Radio Technician Crash Course and
VE session. License 15 new volunteers as Ham
Radio Operators. Additionally, four members have
upgraded from Technician to General class licenses, giving
us redundant HF capability.
- September,
2007 Drill with chapter equipment Begin to "Feel
our way" as part of the merged Regional chapter.
- October,
2007. Complete and put 4 "Go Kits" or "Shelter Kits" in
service. These are transportable radio stations
that can be set up in a shelter or remote care dispensing
location, providing instant communications with the chapter
and chapter vehicles, as well as others using amateur radio
for disaster communications. This equipment is fully
functional 2 meter ham radio transceivers, with a
power supply and antenna.
- Obtain an
older donated HF radio for radio room. Still need to get
permission to install an HF antenna on the roof.
- December,
2007 Apply to obtain "Vanity" call sign
NJ2RC for Club
Station, retiring KC2RMP sequential call sign. Actual
license received in January 2008.

2008 |
- January,
2008 Run third Ham Radio Technician Crash Course
and VE session. License additional Regional Chapter
regional volunteers as Ham Radio Operators. The first
time the course is offered to the Region after the merger of
Bergen Hudson and Metro chapters. Also,
NJ2RC call sign issued to club station in Fairfield.
